It’s been years (eight to be exact) since the last Superman movie and fans of the DC franchise have been dying to see the man of steel on the big screen. Well, James Gunn has breathed new life to the much beloved superhero and the movie is set to open on July 9!

David Corenswet and Rachel Broshanan

“We put our hearts and souls in a movie that we truly believe in. It’s a movie about goodness and hope. In a world filled with bitterness and anger, we have Superman who is different — one who fights for people , for peace. We love it, ” says Gunn.

The gods/metahumans/the Fates have all favored us because Manila is the first stop of  the  Superman World Tour! Last night, the Music Hall of Mall of Asia was filled from the ground level all the way up to the top. People waited for hours to catch a glimpse of  David Corenswet (Clark Kent/Superman), Rachel Broshanan (Lois Lane) as well as James Gunn (writer/director/producer) and Peter Safran (co-producer). And just a little after 7 pm, the cast made their way to the Music Hall and were greeted with thunderous applause, screams and chants even.

Fans were not disappointed as the cast took their time in signing autographs, obliging requests for photos, and just being amiable to the crowd. Some brought toys, posters, movie memorabilia for signing. Others, however, went the extra mile and donned the red, blue and yellow suit of Superman, some wore SuperGirl costumes, while others opted for Clark Kent.

Once on stage, James Gunn thanked everybody and promised a great movie come July 9th. Both David and Rachel said that they consider their roles as big responsibilities and they hope they did them justice. “We put our hearts and souls in a movie that we truly believe in. It’s a movie about goodness and hope. In a world filled with bitterness and anger, we have Superman who is different — one who fights for people , for peace. We love it, ” says Gunn.

After the fan fest, select media were chosen to watch a 20 minute footage film in IMAX MOA. I cannot say anything about it yet—only that it’s got all the ingredients that we’ve come to expect and MORE! David Corenswet brings a distinct kind of charm, strength, and vulnerability to the character. He fits the suit like a glove.

With a pocketful of glitter,
