Melissa on my Mind (Confessions of a Shoe Addict Part1)

“A woman can carry a bag but it is the shoe that carries a woman.” – Christian Louboutin.

I look at my shoe collection and pray that my current weight  is not directly proportional to the amount of shoes I’ve collected.  I just keep adding and adding and adding .  My love for shoes is so big that I need another room to hold them. 🙂  But, I digress.  This post is devoted solely (pun intended) to  one of my favorite brands MELISSA.

MEL Aura store The Brazilian shoe brand has now been producing its jelly shoes for over a quarter of a century.   The shoes are fashionable , easy to maintain and constantly evolving when it comes to its designs.  It claims to use eco-friendly plastic too.  Over the years,  Melissa has partnered with fashion mavens  Vivienne Westwood, James Wu and very recently with Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel’s infamous creative director and resident house designer).  Ladies, if you love CHANEL but can’t afford to buy the brand, this is the closest you can get to owning one!

When I chanced upon the MELISSA store in SM AURA, I initially just wanted to take pictures of the shoes.  But when I saw the Karl Lagerfeld’s pointed flats—my oh my – my eyes grew bigger and bigger.  “Miss can I try this and this… and that one too , please!”  All thoughts of taking photos for the blog left my mind.

Fashionable Flats

MEL pointed shoes

Totally love these! I couldn’t make up my mind between the grey and the cream colored versions. I chose the grey pair eventually.

There were so many designs to choose from.  I’ve chosen a few that caught my eye.

Scoops of Ice Cream

MEL ice cream heels

Cara Delevingne models Lagerfeld’s creations for Melissa. How cool are the ice cream heels?!!! Left phto from the FB page of the brand

Two-colored Heels

MEL Floret

A definite MUST-HAVE! Photos in this collage are fromthe FB page of the brand

Super Comfy Flats

Ballerina  Flats

Too cute!

Flowers, Wings, Jewels, Hearts, Animal toes and TINK!

From Westwood’s Animal toes to Disney’s Tinkerbell – You can find the whimsical and the magical in this store! 🙂

Cherries, Chocolate bars and Smileys

MEL for kids

I spent a good half hour trying to pick out what to get for my little diva.

THE BQP COLLECTION

The adoreable plastic soles are quite expensive.  Price starts at about PHp 2,800.  It’s a good investment , in my opinion.  The pairs I’ve bought have not deformed over time and is Mommy-friendly too.  It has proven resistant to this crazy heat, spills from milk and juices, and the marks my children leave when they step over Mom’s feet.

Striped Wedges

These are my go-to wedges. I use them all the time!

The Reds

Wore this red pair during my daughter's Hello Kitty party. Photo shows me with friend A.

Designer Shoes

My fascination for jelly shoes extends to designer brands.

GUCCI

Have yet to wear these. :)

NO CURE, NO PROBLEM

The title to this post is an admission and is self-prophesizing. There will certainly be more confessions in the near future.  I’m afraid that there is no cure for what ails me.  I am a happy shoe addict and will remain as one.  I shall gladly  share more  fabulous shoe finds in the coming posts!
