“Playing dress-up starts at age five and never really ends.” –KATE SPADE
I  never took Kate for a  late bloomer.  My daughter started picking her clothes at two years old and I’m quite positive my genes had everything to do with that!   As women, we just have an instinct about what looks good on us.
I prefer simple pieces, basic colors and classic cuts.  I’m afraid of prints and tints that don’t belong to my  personal color wheel – black, blue and grey.   Well,  there’s the occasional red and purple but that’s as far as my comfort zone can stretch.  So when I went to The Florence Fling (FF) store inside THE RAMP at Crossings Mall,  I had to step back to take in the rainbow colors that were in full display.   I was quite surprised to be drawn to a ballerina dress which had a snake print done in an orange-pink hue and was paired with black fabric on the side.  How pretty! Hmmm… it hasn’t been five minutes yet and already I’m a convert!
A few minutes later, owner Tessa Nieto- Villalon  arrived.  The former model turned entrepreneur told me that  it was her stay in Florence, Italy (where she studied Fashion Merchandising and Management in Polimoda) that inspired the name and the look of her clothing line.  “The brand is colorful, feminine and has a classic silhouette, ” she enthused.  “I like making clothes that flatter a woman’s body.  Aside from the monochromatic dresses, I also like to play with patterns as shown in my geometric designs.   I source fabrics from the US, Japan and Korea,” Tessa added.

  4. I agree with you BQP. I bought the Claudia draped gown in beige color last December. Was happy with the fit and a lot of my friends liked the design. Little did they know that I got it for a reasonable price. Can’t wait to have another event and will surely consider the Florence Fling rack for my next outfit.

    1. I saw that dress on you! Ala greek goddess! You can visit the Florence Fling before going to their stores so you know what to look for . 🙂

  5. Ooh la la! My daughters are drooling over the dresses. They are wishing they’re back in the Philippines to visit the store, try on lots of dresses and buy some (of course, not all!). Ha ha ha! Fabulous!

  6. Though i initially feel in love with the Gwyneth dress, I ended up buying the Lucinda dress at the Trinoma branch. Good thing they had my size. I love it, its got a really a figure-flattering design. Im so grateful for the black color in the sides of the dress. It camouflages my thighs. Ha! Thanks BQP! This shows how much I value your insights.

  7. I ❤ Florence Fling to the moon & back! Since its inception, ive been an avid fan! The dresses are reasonably priced given the quality of the material & each one is a timeless piece. Worthy of the investment! Corina ✔ Papillion ✔ Vanessa ✔ Spot on in your writeup BQP! You really engage me as your reader

  8. Alice Dixon looked young and dainty in that Purple/Lilac dress. I have that Claudia draped gown in the same color. Bought it to attend a wedding and didn’t know it was the same motif for the Entourage. But then they got me as proxy since the others didn’t make it in time.
