WILD FOR WILDFLOUR CAFE + BAKERY
It’s 9:30 am and the place is almost full.  It seems that every time I go to Wildflour Café and Bakery, the place gets busier and busier.  I look around and see that early risers are already jumpstarting their day  in both the main dining hall and in the alfresco (read:sidewalk) section.   Pretty good Tuesday morning turnout at the Net Lima BLdg., Bonifacio Global City branch .
CRONUTS AND THEN SOME
The brainchild of sisters and pastry chefs  Ana Ocampo ancd Marge Manzke,  WF started in 2012  as a rustic french bistro which specialized in making its own pasta and breads.  Soon after,  its  cronuts  (that delicious hybrid of a croissant and a donut) sent the whole of Manila into a sweet-craving frenzy.   Lines formed outside the stores at particular hours of the day just to purchase a limited quantity of the  mouthwatering pastries.

What’s next after cronuts?  “We are always trying to innovate.   Our loyal clientele have their particular favorites and we’re constantly creating new flavors to add to the menu, “ says Chef Allen  Buhay.

Every day is a busy day at Wildflour Cafe+Bakery. Be sure to make a reservation before you visit. Call 02 8567600.

SPOONFULS OF GOODNESS
Here are some dishes I’ve tried from the Café’s breakfast and lunch/dinner menu.

Breakfast to share! Mushroom omelette (P360)  paired with a big serving of Brioche french toast  (P380) is a match made in heaven!   The omelette is very light and creamy while the toast almost tastes like butter cake. YUM!  Next time though I’ll skip the sugar dust and thick hot chocolate.  Too sweet.
Chorizo Fundido (P380) Homemade Mexican chorizo is baked with several kinds of cheeses and is served bubbling and gooey.  Best eaten with WF’s warm baguette.  My son M devoured this dish!  🙂

For the adventurous foodie! Octopus Salad (P210) – The octopus is cooked until tender, then grilled and topped with cabbage.  The salad is tossed with mango, coconut milk, dalandan juice and mixed with basil and cilantro.

Bacon and Gruyere Tart Flambee (P425)  THE FAMILY”S FAVORITE! – Made with homemade paper thin flatbread, this delight is  baked with a spread of caramelized onions, gruyere cheese and big pieces of bacon lardons.   You should definitely order this!

Corn Agnolotti (P450) The BQP’s Choice – Innovative and Delicious! Fresh corn is cooked with lots of brown butter and pureed until smooth. Mascarpone cheese is aded and stuffed into egg yolk pasta and served with prawns and a lemon beurre blanc. WINNER in my book!

Spaghetti (P450) — Squid ink pasta is tossedin garlic butter, prawn stock and lemon. Has clams, , prawns and squid. For those who enjoy a bit of spice in their dish, try this.

Kimchi Fried Rice with Crispy Pork Belly (P595) –  Another MUST TRY!  Pork belly slowly cooked to crispy and juicy perfection!  You can have it with the spicy kimchi rice or with  corn and mushrooms.  I give this a TEN!

A SWEET ENDING

Tres leches, dulce de leche (P!95) Soft cake soaked in 3 kinds of milk topped with dulce de leche, whipped cream and caramel. You won’t be able to resist this delicious temptation! Definitely my fave! Salted choclate cake (P250) BESTSELLER! 3 layers of chocolate cake is stuffed with salted caramel and caramel-chocolate frosting! Guarnateed to have you eating one spoonful after another! Farmacy’s classic sundae (P270) Have a tall order of strawberry, chocolate and vanilla ice cream topped with whipped cram, peanuts and cherry!
